NACI instructed to undertake TM44 inspections for McDonald’s UK portfolio

TM44 Inspections Reports

NACI and McDonald’s UK

NACI have been instructed as the sole preferred supplier to complete statutory TM44 air conditioning inspections for the entire McDonald’s UK restaurant portfolio.

McDonald's - TM44 InspectionsNACI have been tasked with ensuring that all McDonald’s restaurants are fully compliant with the Energy Performance of Buildings Regulations 2007. Given the potential environmental benefits, McDonald’s felt it worthwhile to include their franchised restaurants within the scope of the contract meaning the portfolio consists of upwards of 1,000 restaurants located across the country.

Although many of the restaurants follow a similar building style, as expected within a portfolio of this size, the condition of each site will vary, especially amongst franchised sites which are effectively independent businesses with their own operating parameters. In addition to this, the logistical deployment of inspectors throughout the UK is a huge challenge. NACI are also aware of the need to ensure that the inspections have a minimum impact on the daily operation of the restaurants, which can be incredibly busy.

TM44 Inspection Reports

NACI were selected due to their previous track record of working with high profile clients and their ability to show a clear and effective logistical plan of deployment. The ability to deliver a consistent quality of report across such a large portfolio was also a key factor as McDonald’s viewed this as an exercise to improve their energy management wherever possible and the ability to compare sites across the portfolio is a huge benefit. The portfolio is expected to be completed within a maximum of 6 months

In addition to the environmental and potential cost benefits, McDonald’s are very aware of the impact breaching the legislation could have. With fines of up to £500 per site for non-compliance, the financial risk across such a large portfolio would be huge.

McDonald’s is the leading global foodservice retailer with more than 32,000 local restaurants serving more than 64 million people in 117 countries each day. McDonald’s have a goal to achieve continuous environmental improvement. They ensure compliance with all current legislation and, where possible, act in anticipation of future environmental legislation. They base their environmental programme around the hierarchy of ‘Reduce, Reuse, Recycle’ and are committed to continuous review, evaluation and improvement of their programme.
